On Wednesday, April 11th, 2012, The Rosedale Day School choir was invited to sing both the American and Canadian national anthems at the Toronto Blue Jays game. It was an exciting day as both students and family members came to support the choir. The choir was taken behind the scenes before the game in preparation for the singing of the anthems. They waited anxiously to be escorted onto the Rogers Centre home turf. The time had finally come. The choir stood in front of the microphones facing their conductor, Ms. Angeline Roides, with the players only yards away, and their faces being projected on the jumbotron! As they started the crowd fell quiet and listened as the choir sang both anthems beautifully. The crowd went wild! What an amazing experience for RDS!

Following the wonderful anthem singing, the choir joined their family, teachers and friends in the crowd and were treated to a quick and exciting game in which the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Boston Red Sox 3-1. With over 225 from the RDS community including students, teachers, parents, grandparents, and other family members, RDS was shown multiple times on the jumbotron and cheered loudly for their home team. This was truly a successful community event!
Ms. Brianne Cooper, RDS’s art teacher, worked with the students to create a great Blue Jays banner. The banner made it onto the jumbotron a couple of times! Students also made smaller Blue Jays signs while at the game!
A special thank you for all of the organizing by Ms. Sarah Pickering! This event could not have happened without her.
