What your support means
Annual Fund Campaign
The 2022/23 Annual Giving Campaign provides the entire RDS community with an opportunity to participate in giving back to the School we all love.
Since RDS opened its doors in 1995, our community has been involved, worked together and given back to the school. The deep relationships that RDS staff share with our students helps them develop the attributes, skills and competencies they need to be well prepared for highschool, post secondary studies and an ever changing world.
Your generosity plays a critical role in all of this. The tuition paid by our families covers the cost of day-to-day school operations but any funds needed for facility improvements or enhancements to programming are raised through donations. The Annual Giving Campaign provides the RDS Community with an opportunity to participate in giving back to the School we all love and our goal this year is 100% participation by our community. With your help, we can make it happen!
Annual Giving funds received this year will be used to support priorities identified in our strategic plan, Meaningful Learning for Life and invested into important improvements that will impact the day-to-day lives of our students.
Through tangible and real-world application, our upper year students explore cell theory, multicellular organisms, material transport, DNA and mitosis, colony morphology, and more! In addition, they learn about the implication of this knowledge for individuals, society, and the environment.
Our Grade 8's in particular have benefited from the expertise of volunteer researchers from the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute in Mount Sinai Hospital and the University of Toronto about the properties of DNA and genetics. This learning experience provided a meaningful discussion on genetics, transgenics in research, and ethics.
The second area of focus for annual giving will be for Classroom Enhancements. Led by our Junior and Middle School Coordinators, Mrs. Laura Tought and Mrs. Julia Buwalda, our Student Learning Environments are in need or New Computer (JK-5) and additional soft furniture for shared learning spaces.
With your support, Mr. Scott Ramkissoon, our Middle School Science Specialist and STEAM Coordinator (JK-8), would like to add a new Ultimaker S5 3D printer to enable students to use more advanced design software and produce complex objects.
Our Athletics & School Spirit also need a boost! Our beloved Gryphon Mascot who is both a fan favourite and pro cheerleader at important gatherings is in dire need of a wardrobe update.
Lastly, help us tune up our Music Department. Guided by our fearless leader, Mr. Planert, RDS Musicians are looking to add an updated sound system to our Music Studio.
As a non-profit organization, RDS relies on philanthropic support to make an impactful difference. I hope you will join me and make a donation to the RDS Annual Giving Campaign by clicking here. All donations above $20 will receive an income tax receipt.
Thank you for your participation.
